President Museveni appoints a committee to investigate Makerere University matters

The president of the republic of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has named a nine men committee that is to investigate, look into and bring him a report about issues concerning Makerere University.

Makerere University was closed on November 1, on orders of President Yoweri Museveni after being marred by unending strikes ranging from teaching staff to students. The ‘visitation committee’ is to look into the source of problem, and commend possible solutions.

“In exercise of powers vested in the President by Article 26 of the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act, I have appointed the following members to a Visitation Committee to inquire into the affairs of Makerere University. They start work immediately.” Said the president.

The committee is headed by Dr. Abel Rwandeire. Others members on the committee are Lady Justice Keturah Katunguka – deputy, Hon Tim Lwanga – member, Dr Florence Muranga – member, Dr Proscovia Namubiru Sentamu – member, Mr. John F.S. Muwanga – member, Dr Paul Musasizi – member, Dr Kisoro – member, Eng Lumu – member.
