Following the Presidential initiative to see the people of Luweero increase their agricultural output, the president of Uganda through operation Wealth Creation wealth creation has promised to construct water reservoirs that will provide water to be used for irrigation and domestic use.
The president has promised this while on his 4-day tour in Luwero district where he is, together with farmers, discussing and looking for solution on how to earn more from their agricultural output so as to gain from Operation Wealth Creation (OWC).
President Museveni took with him the Minister of Finance, Agriculture and Water to tour the Kangave Hill in Luweero which he has identified a potential area to construct the water reservoir of water pumped from River Danze.
Yesterday, the president was seen with a bicycle fetching water for irrigation, demonstrating to farmers the fast and cheap way of getting water for irrigation in a method which he defined as “Jerrycan Irrigantion”.
“I took officials from the agriculture, finance and water ministries on a tour of Kangave Hill in Luweero where we shall station reservoirs for water pumped from River Danze. It is from those reservoirs that we shall distribute water to households, particularly so they can irrigate their seedlings distributed under the Operation Wealth Creation scheme.” Said President Museveni
The district lies in the dry Luweero triangle which comprises of 4 district namely Nakaseke, Kyankwanzi, Nakasongola and Luweero Districts and its one of the 4 driest regions in the country, the other three being Karamoja, Ankole Masaka Corridor and Kasese.
