“You will always be remembered as someone who died fighting for the constitution of your country” Those were the common words on the mouths of hundreds of mourners who had stormed the home of Edison Nasasira to pay the last respect to the young man who died in the recent togikwatako campaign in Rukungiri.
Nasasira, 22, was buried today on Friday in Rukungiri, with his coffin covered with the Uganda Flag and a big percentage of mourners had red ribbons on their heads symbolizing their readiness to continue with the Togikwatako campaign.
The young man who was born in 1995, died on Wednesday during the clash between the Uganda Police and the FDC supporters at the rally organized by the FDC Presidential candidate Patrick Oboi Amriat popularly known as POA, escorted by Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye, Ingrid Turinawe, Erias Lukwago and area MP Kaginda Rolland and many others.
Amidst the exchange of stones and firing of bullets and teargas, Edison was hit on the head by what the police said it was a stone though FDC continues to say it was a bullet and he died on spot.
Various politicians and activists attended the burial while others sent condolences with a big sum of the condolence (amabugo) coming from the FDC diaspora chapter.
