Denis Onyango’s Mamelodi Sundowns win the Africa Champions League trophy

The Ugandan goalkeeper Denis Onyango is now celebrating after his side Mamelodi Sundowns, a South African team managed to take the CAF Champions league trophy after winning Zamalek of Egypt with 3-1 on aggregate.

Mamelodi Sundowns won the first leg of the finals with 3 goals to nil and has lost the second game to Zamaleki in Egypt 1 goal to nil but managed to win on the aggregate results rule.

The Club was winning the trophy for the first time in their history and they took the trophy from USM Alger the Algerian club who were the 2015 winners.

The CAF Champions league is the largest continental clubs trophy in Africa and the winner qualifies to play in Clubs World Cup where they play against other continental Champions.

Denis Onyango managed conceded one goal today after keeping a clean sheet in the first leg of the finals. He was nominated twice in the CAF African Player of the Year Award and the African Best Goalkeeper. Winning this trophy gives him an upper hand in the contest.
