Professor Stella Nyanzi will fight for democracy till she gets it, now instead of boycotting the pro NRM people or staying at home and not working; she decided to do it differently! For her she has written a letter to the President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni begging him to stop ruling us.
Professor Stella Nyanzi said that she will not stay at home because she loves her work and she does not need to lose it. She continued that working is where she gets her daily food and therefore must work but she said she will do something different and straight forward which other Ugandans will not do-Writing a letter to the President.
Below is her letter to the President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni
Dear Mr. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni
I am not boycotting work this Thursday as instructed by some FDC leaders, although I voted for Dr. Kizza Besigye as my president in the concluded elections. I need my job to meet my responsibilities over my dependents. I fear unemployment, for we totally lack social welfare in Uganda. I am writing to you, rather than boycott work.
Many people in the opposition will not do this, but I am begging you – while meekly kneeling on my forty-one year-old knees – to stop being president of Uganda. Please stop ruling us because many of us who once loved and believed in you, now abhor you. Please call off the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for later this year. Please just give up the presidency and then take up an honorary lectureship at Mbarara University of Science and Technology which is close to your ranch. Letting go, however late, may redeem your drastically fallen image and recast your grotesque legacy into better light.
You have shown us your superior military might. You poured legions upon legions of very dark-skinned scary silent armed uniformed men onto our streets and into our open public spaces. When they are not zooming past us in siren-screaming-vehicles, or seriously marching in single file to no-where in particular, or shooting teargas and live bullets at our crowds, they are arresting us for so-called inciting violence, preventative ends, or even nothing at all. You are mighty. The police, army, para-military, intelligence, and pseudo-constables all jump as tennis-balls at your orders. Please order your armed men, women, canines, armoury, vehicles and tankers to go back to their barracks. The show of might must end.
Lastly, I beg you – while still kneeling on my knees – to call off the constraining arrests of Dr. Kizza Besigye. Please, Mr. Museveni, please. Please call off the barricades of armed people and vehicles blocking his free travel to wherever he pleases. Stop the orders to drive him off to police cells without charges. Put an end to the unwanted presence of security persons at the homes, offices and other premises of all opposition leaders and members. Call off the police raids of properties and confiscation of materials. Order your forces to stop arresting opposition members. All of this is within your power to do. You do not have to do any of these things, but please have mercy, Mr. Museveni. Remember mercy, Baba.
